چکیده

In this article, we treat extended balancing for continuous-time linear time-invariant systems. We take a dissipativity perspective, thus, resulting in characterization terms of matrix inequalities. This perspective is useful determining priori error bounds. addition, address the problem structure-preserving model reduction subclass port-Hamiltonian establish sufficient conditions to ensure that reduced-order preserves structure. Moreover, show use Gramians can be exploited get small bound and, possibly, preserve physical interpretation model. illustrate results with large-scale mechanical system example. Furthermore, how interpret an electrical circuit again as lower dimensional circuit.

Dissipativity preserving balancing for nonlinear systems - A Hankel operator approach

In this paper we present a version of the balancing technique for nonlinear systems which are dissipative with respect to a general quadratic supply rate that depends on the input and the output of the system. We discuss an input output approach that allows us to apply the theory of balancing based upon Hankel singular value analysis. In order to do that we prove that the available storage and ...

Squaring down LTI systems: A geometric approach

In this paper, the problem of reducing a given LTI system into a left or right invertible one is addressed and solved with the standard tools of the geometric control theory. First, it will be shown how an LTI system can be turned into a left invertible system, thus preserving key system properties like stabilizability, phase minimality, right invertibility, relative degree and infinite zero st...

The Exact Solution of Min-Time Optimal Control Problem in Constrained LTI Systems: A State Transition Matrix Approach

In this paper, the min-time optimal control problem is mainly investigated in the linear time invariant (LTI) continuous-time control system with a constrained input. A high order dynamical LTI system is firstly considered for this purpose. Then the Pontryagin principle and some necessary optimality conditions have been simultaneously used to solve the optimal control problem. These optimality ...

Minimum variance control of discrete - time and continuous - time LTI MIMO systems – a new unified framework

This paper presents a new uniform framework for solving the problem of minimum variance control of both discretetime and continuous-time linear time-invariant multi-input multioutput systems described by general input-output models. Rather surprisingly, it is shown that the continuous-time case can be analyzed and synthesized without the necessity of involving the celebrated (and rather complex...

Extended Hamiltonian approach to continuous tempering.

We introduce an enhanced sampling simulation technique based on continuous tempering, i.e., on continuously varying the temperature of the system under investigation. Our approach is mathematically straightforward, being based on an extended Hamiltonian formulation in which an auxiliary degree of freedom, determining the effective temperature, is coupled to the physical system. The physical sys...
